JOHN E. SWISHER III
Company Co-Founder and Chairman
John graduated from Michigan State University in 1965 with a degree in Business Administration and a major in real estate. He began Swisher Commercial Company with his father, the late John E. Swisher, Jr., in 1968 and succeeded him as President and Chief Executive Officer in 1985. John has been licensed in real estate for more than forty years and has attained the designation of Realtor Emeritus.
Early in his career, John actively pursued his interest in commercial property
management and leasing, and continues to specialize in these areas. In addition,
he has become increasingly involved in development and consulting, currently
focusing his time on servicing Swisher Commercial Company's long-standing commercial
clients, as well as guiding internal corporate development.
John has shown a dedicated commitment to both his profession and the community
throughout his career. He served two terms as Director and one term as Treasurer
of the Ann Arbor Area Board of Realtors. He is a co-founder of the Ann Arbor
Downtown Development Authority and served as its first President for two years.
Other notable civic offices and memberships include: Trustee of Catherine
McAuley Health Center; Founder and President of the Educational Foundation of
Dexter; 14-year member of the Ann Arbor Housing Board of Appeals; former member
of the Board of Directors of Washtenaw Interventions; and member of several
Parking Advisory Boards of the City of Ann Arbor.
John and his wife, Beth, live just outside the Village of Dexter. They have two grown children, Robin and John IV, and are the grandparents of two; John V and Natalie Catherine. |
