Doug has participated in a diverse range of real estate development activities, including acquisition and renovation of residential and commercial income properties, downtown office rehabs, new office construction, and residential subdivision development. He specializes in the sale and leasing of office, retail, and industrial properties as well as the sale of income and apartment properties. Doug holds the Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) designation and acts as a consultant to private and institutional clients in property selection, evaluation, and acquisition. He works extensively with non-profit organizations.

Doug is active in professional organizations, including the Ann Arbor Area Chamber and the Ann Arbor Area Board of Realtors, where he has served as a director and chair or member of many committees. Doug is also active in civic and community affairs, previously chairing the real estate division of the United Way campaign and serving on the Downtown Plan Study Task Force, Ann Arbor Loft Study Committee, and the Board of Directors of the Ann Arbor YMCA.

Doug lives on Ann Arbor's near West Side with his wife Olga, daughter Cassie, son Kyle, and step-son Andres. Doug has been an active soccer player for thirty-some years and enjoys waters sports with his family at their Irish Hills area cottage.
